When you click on the menu under the appearance section, you could easily customize the menu through your category, posts, custom links, and pages.

Theme editor is generally a place where you can perform all the coding related task. For example if you want to add a Google Analytics tracking code you need to open theme editor and select header.php and put your Tracking code after the <head> tag.
